Hello
We are on the homestretch to the end of the year but there are still lots of learning and activities planned to finish the year off in style.

Reading
We have been working on reading skills that will help us become more successful mystery readers. As mystery readers we must:

• look for clues and be aware of false clues(red herrings)
• consider suspects and their motives
• look for patterns in series
• try to solve the mystery before the main character
• reflect on the choices the character makes
• teaches us to be curious in our own life

Writing

We have been perfecting our essay writing skills. Students have worked at choosing more powerful   topics with  reasons and examples to support their ideas. I have been most impressed with the students' end results and how they continue to grow as writers. We will next be experimenting with poetry techniques.

Science

Students are enjoying our new unit on Structures of Life. We have been examining the common structures that help plants survive and have enjoyed caring for our mini- sprouters and watching our seedlings develop.We will be sharing our findings on this topic at the science fair on Friday. Our class presentation time will be 8:45 - 9:15.

Math

Grade four has finished their unit on measurement and has started a study of geometry. There is a lot of vocabulary in this unit and students will need to review these words on regular basis to grasp a stronger understanding.
