Writing News Dec. 8th

As writers we have continued to work on our nonfiction pieces. Here are the skills we have looked at:

• organizing  facts into categories
• opening with a lead sentence in each category
• sentence fluency - do our sentences start differently, are they different lengths and do they flow from one to the other
• writing with a natural voice using a combination of narrative nonfiction and expository formats
• writing in a way to teach someone
• creating introductions
• using catchy subtitles
• deciding on and finding the appropriate text features for their piece
